Our Future is Green

We all agree…

Our children are our future.

There is really no debate on this fact. No polls. No election questions, or ballots.

We play with our children, we teach them, raise them to be the best they can be. (Well, we do our best) However, are we teaching them how to save their planet?

When we are long gone, and a distant memory in a photograph, there will be our children, raising their own children. What type of a planet are we leaving behind? If we as a human race can slowly destroy a beautiful, living planet than we can preserve it.

It really is us. There’s no one else.

Whether we have children or not, lets support eachother in learning about our planet, our environment, our water, our energy. Let’s teach children about conservation, recycling, replenishment, and replacing.

Where to start.

There are millions of blogs, and articles, groups, organizations, movements, and clubs available to us to help us with all the facts we need to know. There really is no excuse.

Energy Conservation

Green Torch is a cutting edge energy brand that helps replace old damaged exit signs and emergency lighting products with self-luminescent, and low energy emitting products.

Discount Green Fees? Top 7 Questions to Ask

Are you really getting a great bargain with golf discount cards or are you just buying a useless membership that costs more than it saves? If golf is one of your life’s passions, you know how costly it is to play twice or more a week.

Add up $65 for greens fees + $25 for a cart, twice a week for 23 weeks and you spend will more than $3,500 a year to tee it up on golf courses. Your golf score may probably improve, but bank account probably won’t!

Many discount golf programs promise that you can “Play more golf and pay less.” Is that an “unplayable lie” or blasting out of a trap? There are many golf discounts from golf course greens fee arrangements. Some are on-line; some are printed coupon books.

Some work very effectively, where you can double your money or cut your fees in half. Some are real duds. To become a savvy buyer that your golf buddies and friends look up to. Use this 7 question checklist to figure out whether buying an on-line membership golf card is worth it.

1. How many courses belong to the discount golf course network?

Is it 10? 50? 150? 3,000? The more courses the better. Why? Because if 100,000 people buy the membership and there are only one hundred courses, you’ll get stuck trying to get a good tee time.

Red or Green Chile – A Problem for Chile Lovers!

With quick advances in the information age, we’re inundated with questions. Will interest rates stay low? Can Obama beat Hilary? How did UCLA lose to Memphis? Will Brett Farve stay retired? I’m getting exhausted with all the questions, but one that always piques my interest is the official state question in New Mexico– Red or Green?

Locals have been plagued with making this decision for years, and recognizing it as an official problem, New Mexico made it official in 1996. Go into any restaurant and you’ll eventually be asked this very important question. But how do you answer? Don’t be afraid. With a little insight, you’ll answer your waitress with thoughtful intelligence. In fact, if you’re not wearing flip-flops–the official California shoe–you might even be taken for a local!

I was faced with this dilemma recently and remembered that New Mexicans are extremely passionate about this subject. Of course, we’re talking chile here. What is the answer? Well, it all depends on the season. As I’ve stated, I know there are other problems we need to consider. We have to elect a president after all. Still, the question lingers in my mind–red or green?

I’d ordered Blue Corn Enchiladas at Garcia’s Kitchen near downtown Albuquerque. Andy Garcia has excellent food and a number of locations throughout the state and in every one you’ll be asked the same question. What’ll it be? Red or Green? As I’ve stated, it all depends. What month are we in?

8 Tips To Having An Eco-Friendly, Green Wedding!

Having a wedding? Join the band of celebrities like Alicia Silverstone and Ashlee Simpson to recreate the perfect wedding, eco-friendly style! Here are some ways you can go green on your wedding day.

Eco-friendly invites: You can use recycled paper to print out invites. Make sure the paper hasn’t been through any bleaching process. Try using cotton or even hemp to create a unique invite. Soy based inks are good choices for printing purposes.

Your wedding dress: You could get a wedding gown made of organic silk, cotton, hemp etc. Try to avoid using materials manufactured out of acetate or polyester. These send out static electricity, consume a lot of energy and cause out-gassing as well.

Wedding ring material: Most people prefer gold as the metal of choice in their wedding ring. However, silver represents a better choice. A lot of unethical practices happen in gold mining. By not buying such rings you are showing your solidarity against such practices. Try to avoid using diamonds and use some other gemstone instead. However, if a diamond is a must make sure it is certified to ensure there are no blood-diamonds involved. You could also use a vintage, heirloom ring as you will be reusing it.

The wedding menu: Try using organic produce as much as possible when deciding the menu for your wedding day. Make sure no artificial flavors or sweeteners are being added. Use fair trade coffee varieties and use glassware which has been recycled. If you are having the wedding ceremony in a countryside setting getting organic produce can be tedious. So try getting produce from the local farms to have an au-naturale wedding!
